Helping Lower Level Guild Members or Booster Fund (P1-7)

Postby Bj_Knows » Sun Sep 09, 2012 9:05 pm

Note: for possible replacements for “Booster” word choice, see end.

Overview:
Because of large amounts of Silver Coins earned over months and months, some older players are vastly more powerful than new players.
Because Gold Shields can be used to unlock Gem Slots, purchase Tier 9 items and Tier 3 Gems, some new players have many more Silver Coins than other players.
Because of minimum Might Ratings, some Guild members are left out of Raids.

Body:
Before v1.3, some characters had amassed 10+ Million Silver Coins. Some new players will use Gold Shields purchased with real world money to unlock Gem Slots, purchase Tier 9 items and Tier 3 Gems, thus saving thousands in Silver Coin from Quests, instead of spending them on Gem Slots, Tier 8 items and Tier 2 Gems. Therefore, some Guild members will have lots of Silver Coins to spend on Healing/ Cleanse Potions & Minor Runes, while some will have very few Silver Coins. The ability to buy Runes & Cleanse Potions can make a huge difference in final RPP, especially in Onslaught Raids.

When a Guild unlocks a Raid, or a character joins a Guild, some Guild members may not have the minimum Might Rating to participate in all the Raids available to the Guild. Even if they spend energy in other Raids, collect Guild Challenge loot and kill enemies towards a Prestige Statue, lower-might members' participation in the Guild will be limited to only the Raids they can enter.

During a Booster Fund Raid, 10% of all Silver Coins earned would go to the Guild Booster Fund. Ex: Angelique earns 100 Silver Coins during a Booster Fund Raid encounter. Angelique would get 90 Silver Coins, and 10 Silver Coins would go to the Guild Booster Fund. Note: The software client would handle this like the Blessing of Fortune. If the character earned 100 Silver, it would display “90 Silver (+10 Booster Fund)”.

On the Guild Interface page, the current Silver Coins in the Booster Fund would be displayed, along with a button “Distribute Booster Fund”. The “Distribute Booster Fund” button would be available to members ranked Officer and higher. Pressing the “Distribute Booster Fund” button would distribute the Silver Coins equally among the current Guild Members. Ex: If the Fund has 1,000 Silver Coins and the Guild 10 member, pressing the button would give each member 100 Silver Coins. Until the Guild unlocks “Risen from the Depths” (first Soldier Valor (SV) Raid), the button would be disabled (“grayed out”) and no Booster Fund Raids would be available. If the Guild has less than 9 characters, the “Distribute Booster Fund” button would likewise be disabled.

Why 10% of Silver Coins?
Venan makes money selling Silver Coins for real world money. 10% will help newer and weaker players afford Healing/ Cleanse Potions, Minor Runes and Alchemist Lockbox. But unlike 100% it will not cripple Silver Coin In App Purchases.

Why a button instead of a Reward Mail at the end of the raid?
The purpose of a Booster Fund is to help Guild members left out of a Raid.
Ex: When Deathwing Raiders unlocked Cursed Keep only 30% of our members could join the Raid.
Ex: Deathwing Raiders has a minimum participation requirement of 3 Raids a week. If you joined 3 of our Random Skar Raids you would still be a member, but would miss out of the Silver Coin from our daily 9a Zuur. This lets members in good standing earn some of the Silver Coin.
Ex: During the 2012 Labor Day Valor Event, Deathwing Raiders was busy, on Saturday and Sunday the Guild Master kicked out people who had not been online for three or more weeks. On Monday she kicked out people who had not met the weekly participation requirement. The button would give these member a chance to join 3 Raids before the huge amount of Silver Coin generated would be distributed. (This is especially helpful to the less-active members, as they are often the lowest Might Rating members and unable to participate in a high percentage of total raids.)

Why Officer and above?
This prevents Guild Masters from hoarding the Booster Fund, then when it gets high enough, kicking everyone out of the Guild and looting the Booster Fund. [Typist's Note: because that would be totally uncool.]

Why Booster Fund button/ Raids unlock with “Risen from the Depths” Raid (first Soldier Valor (SV) Raid)?
When a Guild is ready to Raid for Soldier Valor (SV), the Guild Master, and all Officers, should be vetted and known to be trustworthy. Tier 6 Items and Tier 2 Gems can be bought with Squire Valor(sqV) or Silver Coins, thus making "Risen from the Depths" very desirable for Guilds who want Tier 10 Items and Tier 3 Gems with Soldier Valor(SV). If some members do not have a high enough Might Rating, this can divide the membership as some want to Raid Soldier Valor (SV) their highest minimum Might Raid and some want Squire Valor(sqV) their highest minimum Might Raid. Distributing some of the Silver Coins from a Booster Fund Raid would help with this dilemma. Venan is already restricting Beta Onslaught Raids to Soldier Valor(SV) and higher.

Why disable the “Distribute Booster Fund” button if a Guild has fewer than 10 members?
Venan makes money selling Silver Coins for real world money. If there are 10 members and 9 participate in the Raid, the tenth member only gets 1% of total Raid Silver (along with everyone else). If there are 20 members and 10 participate in the Raid, the other members only get 0.5% of Total Raid Silver (as does everyone). This will still encourage Silver Coin In-App Purchases.

Valor Booster Fund

Postby Bj_Knows » Sun Sep 09, 2012 9:06 pm

During a Valor Booster Fund Raid, 10% of all Valor earned would go the the Valor Booster Fund. Ex: A character earning 100 Soldier Valor(SV) would keep 90 Soldier Valor(SV) and 10 Soldier Valor(SV) would go the Valor Booster Fund. Otherwise a Valor Booster Fund is identical to a Silver Coin based Booster Fund.

Valor Booster Funds would help Guilds when some of their members can get into one Raid, but the others cannot. Valor Booster Funds would help Guilds when some of their members are adults (with paychecks who can purchase more energy in Raid), and some are younger siblings, spouses, significant others, etc. who do not play the game as much.

Why 10% Valor?
Characters who earn more RPP gain more Valor. If 100% was given to the Valor Booster Fund, there would be no incentive for first, second or third place except for unlocking Achievements. In Onslaught Raids there would be no incentive to use Major Runes.

Exchange Raid

Postby Bj_Knows » Sun Sep 09, 2012 9:08 pm

During an Exchange Raid, 10% of all Valor earned would go to the Valor Booster Fund just like a Valor Booster Fund Raid. However, in an Exchange Raid, the Valor would be down converted when placed in the Fund. Ex: a character earns 100 Soldier Valor(SV), keeping 90, with 10 Soldier Valor(SV) going to the Fund. The Fund would first down convert this Valor. Instead of getting 10 Soldier Valor(SV) it would get 200 Squire Valor (sqV). In the example, the character earns 100 Soldier Valor(SV), gets a Reward Mail for 90 Solider Valor(SV) while the Valor Booster Fund gains 200 Squire Valor(sqV). The 200 Squire Valor(sqV) comes from down converting 10 Soldier Valor(SV). Similarly, Knight Valor(KV) earned in an Exchange Raid would be down converted to Soldier Valor(SV) when given to the Fund. Otherwise an Exchange Raid acts like a normal Valor Booster Fund Raid.

Members who do not want Squire Valor(sqV) or Soldier Valor(SV) can up convert the Valor at Majerio’s Shop.

Exchange Raids would help Guilds when some members want Tier 11 Items (Knight Valor(KV)) and others want Tier 3 Gems (Soldier Valor(SV)).

Temporary/Mercenary/Merc Guild Members
When high Might Rating members want Knight Valor(KV) and the Guild is still on Soldier Valor(SV), an accepted practice is to temporarily leave the home Guild and join a Knight Valor(KV) Raid in progress, collect the rewards, then return to the home Guild. However, the returning member must wait for an Officer, or Guild Master, to accept them back into the Guild. While waiting, any character loot drops do not include Challenge loot and any enemies killed do not count towards Prestige Statues. While Statues only generate Prestige, Challenge loot delays the awarding of a Guild Favor, which impacts low Might Rating Guild members. Exchange Raids would be one more reason to stay with your Guild instead of Mercing. There will always be Mercing, but this would replace some Merc Raids.

Alchemist Lockbox Down Converting Dilemma
Since 10% of all Valor is split among 10 or more members, the largest possible share is 1% for a 10 Member Guild, less if more members (see Silver Coin Fund post). This avoids the Alchemist Lockbox Down-Converting Dilemma. If a low level character spends 5,000 Silver Coins and wins 10 Knight Valor(KV) and was allowed to convert it to 200 Soldier Valor(SV) then convert it to 4,000 Squire Valor(sqV), they could buy five Tier 2 Gems, the same gems would cost 125,000 Silver Coins. According to GioRGiO, this averages 1 in 2.5 attempts (500 Knight Valor(KV) / 1 million Silver spend * 5000 Silver per attempt ) [  viewtopic.php?f=13&t=723&p=3235#p3235 ] for the thousands of people who play BoH Alchemist Lockbox each day. Medium Might Rating characters have the same dilemma with Tier 3 Gems. Only characters with all Tier 4 Gems are immune to this problem. Thus the 10% sharing limit.

New terminology: Valor+ and Exchange+

Postby Bj_Knows » Sun Sep 09, 2012 9:08 pm

Valor+ Booster Funds would combine Silver Booster Fund & Valor Booster Fund. Valor + Booster Funds would contain Silver Coins, Soldier Valor(SV) and Knight Valor(KV).

Exchange+ Raids would combine Silver Booster Fund & Exchange Raids. Exchange+ Raids would add Silver Coins, Squire Valor(sqV) and Soldier Valor(SV) to the Guild Booster Fund. Before adding to the Fund all Raid Knight Valor(KV) would be down converted to Soldier Valor(SV) and the Raid Solder Valor(SV) to Squire Valor(sqV).

Proposed Exchange+ Raids

Postby Bj_Knows » Sun Sep 09, 2012 9:10 pm

Here are some suggestions for Exchange+ Raids:

Silver Coin plus Knight Valor(KV) down-converted to Soldier Valor(SV) (3 Fund vs. 4 regular raids):

Fellmarsh Exchange+ Raid- "Revenge of Vallus", Vallus as Raid Boss as he tries to get back at the Rath'een. This Raid and Forgotten Sentinels unlock at the same time.
Frozen Vale Exchange+ Raid- "Fight Ice with Fire", Guardian Dragon as Raid Boss as Vallus resists the control of the Rath'een. This Raid and Vale of the Ice Dragon unlock at the same time.
Dragonmoor Exchange+ Raid- "Cult of Personality", Helion as Raid Boss as cultist capture some, but not all, of the Helion Stones and summon Helion. This Raid and Cursed Keep unlock at the same time.

Silver Coin plus Soldier Valor(SV) down converted to Squire Valor(sqV) (2 Fund vs. 3 regular raids):

Nithus Exchange+ Raid- "Not Just Stomaches", Zuur as Raid Boss as Goblin Army loots Nithus to restock their weapons. This Raid and Dark Lord Helion unlock at the same time.
Cursed Quarry Exchange+ Raid- "Diamond in the Rough", Overseer as Raid Boss as Overseer tries to recover a family heirloom looted by Kraken cultists for a spell. This Raid and Risen from the Depths unlock at the same time.

Note: Urgresh Mountains/ Attack at Down was considered for the "Diamond in the Rough" paired regular Raid, but Tier 6 Items and Tier 2 Gems can be bought with Squire Valor(sqV) or Silver Coin thus making "Risen from the Depths" very desirable for Guilds who want Tier 10 Items and Tier 3 Gems with Soldier Valor(SV).

Onslaught Valor+/ Exchange+

Postby Bj_Knows » Sun Sep 09, 2012 9:11 pm

One of the problems with Onslaught is balancing three classes, four weapon types, thirty-six abilities, nine gem types, forty Gem Slots, 2300- 16192 Might Rating characters and 10- 60 Guild members [Typist's Note: And a paaaaaartridge in a pear tree!]. Regular Raids limit Mega Damage Combos to one combat per 2 energy. Onslaught Raids favor certain classes, configurations and Might Rating double the Raid’s minimum.

Using Valor+ Booster Funds (Valor shared) for Onslaught Raids would help balance things out. Adding Onslaught style Raiding to an Exchange+ Raid (shared Valor is down converted) would likewise help. If there was a slight balance issue, you could set the Fund for 10% sharing (standard, characters keep 90% earned, 10% goes to Fund). If there was a huge balance issue, you could set the Fund for 25% sharing (characters keep 75% earned, 25% goes to Fund). Characters with very high RPP would still get the majority of the Valor, but characters struggling to get 3 combats out of 6e would not write off Onslaught Style as a waste of their energy.
