Checking Math or Block, Block Power & Defense Enchants

Checking Math or Block, Block Power & Defense Enchants

Hi Forums,

Can anyone see a flaw in my math? or is Block Power Enchant a very, very poor Enchant until we get Triple Enchants per Item.

Enchants Block, Block Power & Defense

Until Venan adds multiple Enchants to Gear, Block (0.8%) is superior to Block Power (1.0%).

But neither comes close to Defense Enchant.

Conclusion, Block and Block Power Enchants are poor, and Defense Enchant is better. Once double Enchants are available, Block Power is still poor, Defense and Block Enchants are better.

Agreed on your block v block power calcs.

Highest defence without enchants (T14 gear and heavy shield) is 30.92% but you have used 40% as starting point, suggest you use 30%. Apart from that I agree with your calcs and defence looks very good.

However block protects from knockback which defence doesn't.

So Melee Dodge/ Melee Block protects again Knockback.

Does Spell Dodge/ Spell Block protect against Wound (Rend+ Radiant Light/ Smite), Burn, Chill, Deep Freeze, Knockback (Ice Lance) and Poison?

I am not sure about this, just what I have observed... Spell Dodge seems to work in a very similar way to block, reduce damage, stop knockback, but not stop all status effects (seems to stop fire but not ice effects for some reason)

"Spell block" I don't think exists as such - block works the same for all damage dealing attacks whether they are spells or melee. Annoyingly that means you can't block smoke bomb. So it doesn't seem to stop any of the status effects.

Might be wrong but that is what it seems like to me in PvP.

Too many BoH versions. Before v1.5 Dodge/ Block only worked versus Melee Attacks (100% damage reduction). In v1.5 they added Spell Dodge and Spell Block and reduced Melee Block to 50% damage reduction. Seems to be Dodge (100% melee damage reduction), Spell Dodge (50% magic damage reduction) and Block (50% melee and magic reduction, more with Enchants) are the current options.

Justicars have an added factor with stagger. Having that 75% extra damage debuff up a lot could potentially outweigh the benefits of the defense enchant. I don't know how many staggers it would take to make the block enchant better than the defense enchant, but it's definitely something to consider.

Does Vengence proc on a Block? or only on a full hit? That might also be a factor.

MY PERSONAL OPINION
I look at a lot of Enchants like 2H Weapon and the Shadow Walker (only affect is to raise Might Rating) and realize we are grown ups and should at least read the rules. I look at Healing Enchant and realize Venan may have something planned down the road, like PvP Only Healing. But I have to admit, The game mechanics itself of Blocking with a Shield confuses me. Some Enchants are confusing. Combining Blocking with Block/ Block Power Enchants, it can be really difficult to decide what to do with your Enchant Materials.
