Silver Coins in BoH are similar to USA twenty-five cent coins. They are handy for Parking Meters, Vending Machines, etc. Silver Coin is the money denomination used for small, regular, automated, purchases.
Silver Coin Loot Drops reach their highest in the Emperor’s Court Dungeon. Tier 9 is the highest Gear that can be bought for Silver Coin.
Valor in BoH is similar to Bank Checks.
Squire Valor would be similar to a check for twenty USA Dollars. This is the most common money dispensed by Automated Teller Machines (ATM) or Bank Machines. Squire Valor is the money denomination use for medium, regular, live person transactions.
Champion Valor would be similar to a check for five million USA Dollars. This is the money denomination used to buy large mansions or small businesses.
You could also extend this analogy by saying each Valor is a Bank Check drawn on a different Country. If you want to convert Japanese Yen to USA Dollars, you do not get a 1 Yen to 1 Dollar conversion.
Shards Loot Drops are scratch off, lottery tickets that let you win prizes. People were tired of never winning the million dollar lottery (Whole Tier 5 Haste Gem Drop from Bosses), so Venan started selling scratch off, lottery tickets (Shards Loot Drops) where the bottom prize is usually 3 Shards and the top prize is usually 7 Shards. The amount paid to each winner is smaller, but you win more often. Just like some scratch off lotteries, you do not get to pick your prize. You may win a cheap stereo system (Tier 3 Physical Resist Gem), when you already possess the best stereo system (Tier 6 Crit Power Gem).
Gold Shields are like minions, they allow you to save time by delegating the task to others. Instead of grocery shopping, cooking, setting table, doing dishes, you can just go to a restaurant and pay them. In this analogy, Time literally equals Money.
Essence, and Flux, are hours of practice. After a week of practice (100 Essence, 1 Flux), a beginner Black Smith improves a lot (Rank 0 Enchant increased to 1). After a decade of practice (500 Pure Essence, 500 Flux), an expert Black Smith improves a little (Rank 8 Enchant increased to 9).
Seasonal Currencies are similar to Carnival Tickets. Once the Carnival has left town (Seasonal Event over), they are not even worth the paper they are printed on.
