yes, a main and off hand with a full compliment of gems yield the same level of stat increase as a two handed weapon, but the issue arises that shadow walkers lack the option to wield two handed weapons entirely.

perhaps it would make more sense if all weapons had the same stat multipliers, while offhand weapons and shields didn't have gem slots at all. that way, shadow walkers would not have to purchase four additional gems to compete with the other classes for might.

the way it is currently certainly allows for a bit more versatility: characters can tweak their gem ratios with a bit more finesse when wielding an off hand or shield versus a two-handed weapon, but it seems like this fact doesn't really offset the disadvantage i described above.

i'm interested to hear some thoughts on this.


I think a good way to make this up to us SW's is to let us enchant our off hand weapon. :D

Low crit :roll: :?: We have the highest opportunity for high crit with the critical eye and the +25% crit chance on piercing strike. I have only purchased haste gems in yellow and I still have a crit chance of like 40 without the piercing strike. :lol:

MY PERSONAL OPINION
Having seen v2.0, I am now comfortable saying. I want Daggers to offer x2 Location Multipliers and Shields to offer x4 or x6 Location Multipliers.

ADVANCED DETAILS
I would prefer x8 (x2 * x4) since OLC are multiplied by x4 for Phys Resist and Magic Resist. But is is unlikely people will use the Shield's White Gem Slot (Slot D) for Resist. They will most likely use it for Health/ Haste/ Crit.

Blue Gem Special
x4- x8 would use current programming, like 2H Weapons, and be more popular with attack oriented players. However, Venan could make Daggers retain the x2 colored slots (Gem Slots A- C) plus white slot (Gem Slot D), and have Shields all Blue Gem slots (Gem Slots A- D), x2 for Crit Power Gems and x8 for Resist Gems.

2-handed vs 1-handed weapons...and gems

I would like to know why the Shadow Walker has to purchase twice the number of gems for their weapons? That is a disadvantage. War Mage & Justicar have the option of purchasing a two-handed weapon (which requires a max of 4 gems) whereas the Shadow Walker only has a main-hand and off-hand weapon and is required to purchase 4 gems each for a max of 8 gems. For example, level 2 gems cost 750 squires valor...multiply that times 4 and that would be 3000 for the War Mage & Justicar. The Shadow Walker is required to spend 6000 squires valor to achieve the same might rating in the weapon category. I realize this sounds like a whining rant but this information is not forthcoming when players are asked to choose a character. Comments?

It is worse than that. The best high might SW players have to do magic and melee meaning double gems and dual spec. Plus for onslaught, you need to buy 2 elixirs as the second one makes a huge difference - much more than the other classes where you can get by with just one.
