Designing a Character or Stat Percentage Guidelines

When your character goes up a Level, the number of points they need to be as efficient as they were previously in combat increases. However, the percentage they need in each Stat stays the same. You can use this to decide how you want to balance your character when buying Augment Gems and spending Hero Tokens.

Opponent Based Stat Curves

In BoH v1.7, except for Haste, Melee, and Magic, all other Stats are Opponent-based Stat Curves. The lower an Opponent's level, the higher your character's percentage against that Opponent. Likewise, the higher an Opponent's Level, the lower your character's percentage against that Opponent. Venan assumes your character will primarily fight Opponents of the same Level; thus, the percentages Venan lists on your character's Stat page show the Stat percentages versus an opponent of that same Level.

You can use the actual equations (see below for details) to figure out the points required in each Stat, but the percentages stay the same at every level. By looking at percentages, you can decide which Augment Gems you wish to buy and how you wish to spend your Hero Tokens.

Due to diminishing returns, Target 1 is the most efficient or Best Buy, for each Stat Rating based on Opponent Level. Target 4 is the least efficient, approximately 4 times the points of Target 1, and usually requires many Augment Gems, and Hero Tokens, to achieve. Each Target increases by the same number of points as Target 1. Ex: Target 3 has three the number of points in Stat Rating as Target 1.

Every time you increase in character level, the points required for each Target increases, but the Stat percentage remains the same (see Equations for Details).

Crit Rating or Dodge Rating

Target, Percentage vs Opponent of Same Level

Target 1= 27.5% ( Best Buy )

Target 2= 35% ( *2 points of Target 1 )

Target 3= 38.75% ( *3 points of Target 1)

Target 4= 41.00% ( *4 points of Target 1).

Crit Power Rating

Target, Percentage vs Opponent of Same Level

Target 1= 175% ( Best Buy )

Target 2= 183% ( *2 points of Target 1 )

Target 3= 187% ( *3 points of Target 1 )

Target 4= 190% ( *4 points of Target 1 )

Note: Phys Resist and Magic Resist are different. They have no Target 1- 3. Their Best Buy is actually Target 4, which is four times the number of points of Target 1 in any other Opponent-based Stat and usually requires many Augment Gems, and Hero Tokens, to achieve. If you want to be a “Tank” you should choose Magic Resist and put a lot of Gems, and Hero Tokens, into it, then choose Dodge, since Melee Attacks are dodged for zero damage, and no Debuffs. While Magic Attacks are Spell Dodge for 50% damage and some Debuffs. But it is very hard to “Tank” in v1.7.

Target 4= 25% ( Best Buy, *4 points of Crit, Dodge or Crit Power )

Character-Based Stat Curve

The Soft Cap for Magic, and Melee, is Rating = 120 + ( 60 * Character Level ). Above the Soft Cap you get substantially less Bonus.

Ex: If you are Level 20, and your Magic, or Melee, Rating is 0- 1320, you are getting the most efficient Bonus or Best Buy.

Linear Stat

Health is a Linear Stat, no curve. After you decide how much Magic and Melee Rating you want at your current level, put the remaining Red Augment Gems in Health.

Limited Stat Curve

Haste is not based on Opponent Level and not based on Character Level. This makes Haste very difficult to judge. Looking at the formula, the most efficient is Haste 25%, but that does not change based on Level. A Haste 25% at character Level 1 versus opponent Level 1 would be awesome. But Haste 25% at character Level 30 versus opponent Level 30 would be at a large disadvantage in combat.

As a rule of thumb, decide how many white Gem Slots you want to use for Yellow Augment Gems. Then decide how many combined Yellow Gems, you want to use for Crit, Dodge and Haste.

Once you have bought your Haste Gems, check your Haste percentage. Haste percentages in multiples of 4% are usually better buys. Ex: Haste 36% is usually a better buy than Haste 37%, but not as good a buy as Haste 40%.

Haste Ratings better buys come in Steps. A Step is the change in Haste Percentage that will decrease the casting time of Reflexive Strike or Heroic Will+ Seismic Slash or any Class Attack 0.25s.

Step 8= 32% ( Haste Rating approx. 1,800 )

Step 9= 36% ( Haste Rating approx. 2,572 )

Step 10= 40% ( Haste Rating approx. 4,000 )

Note: Step 12= Haste 48% requires Haste Rating approx. 24,000. At the current ratio of Tomes to Gear to Gems, this will require Tier 22 Gear and Tier 9 Gems.

The percentage calculated, for the Rating shown, plus any Buffs (ex: Elixir of Speed) and Debuffs (ex: Slow), is the value in green or red ("Current value due to modifiers"). All percentages shown on your Stat page are versus an opponent of the same Level as your character.
