Maximum Raid Speed or KPM

Overview
Potion of Critical Strike and Potion of Power reduces the number of Button Presses.
Runes reduce the number of Monster Attack Animations.
Potion of Haste reduces number of Monster Attack Animations.
Elixir of Speed lets War Mages swap in Magic Augment Gems (Red).
Elixir of Speed plus Brutality, Critical Eye or Fire Mastery lets characters swap in Crit Augment Gems (Yellow).
Using Dodge 20% Potion can increase effectiveness of Riposte rank p3,
Smokebomb rank 3 Mob rotation is often more effective with a Light Shield,
Luck Enchant slows your KPM.

Device Lag is due to your hardware.
Communication Lag is due to your network.
Phase Lag is due to the number of people in a Raid.
Chat Lag is due to the number of people in Chat.
Server Lag is due to the number of people accessing a subroutine.
Maintenance Lag may not exist in BoH.

Body
For fastest Raid speed, you want maximum Kills Per Minute (KPM) or Real World Speed or Least Button Presses.

Potion of Critical Strike and Potion of Power
KPM is slowed down every time something happens in the game. A character who kills a Mob with 2 button presses will always be faster than one that takes 4 button presses. Potion of Critical Strike and Potion of Power both increase the average damage each of your button presses do. Crafted Potions also last 10 combat seconds. Depending on circumstances, either Potion may dramatically speed up your KPM or have no affect at all.

Runes
Every time a Monster does something, the game is slowed down. Runes are instant, so starting with an Attack Rune (Spirit or Fire) will reduce the number of actions the Monsters get. Depending on circumstances, Runes may dramatically speed up your KPM or have no affect at all.

Note: Runes have a 3 combat second cool down immune to Haste. During Onslaught Raids this may reduce your KPM if you use a lot of Runes.

Edit: Runes no longer proc Ignite
War Mages & Minor Fire Runes
A War Mage with Ignite rank p3 can start combat with a Minor Fire Rune (does not work with Major Fire Runes) and have a 75% of doing 40% Damage 1 second into the combat. Minor Fire Rune automatically starts a Burn Stack, and Ignite has a chance to add a second Burn Stack. This is useful if you need Rune + Flaming Pyre + Ice Storm to finish a Mob and Flaming Pyre + Ice Storm combined take longer than 1 second. If you can kill a Mob in less than 1 combat second, Minor Spirit Rune or No Runes may be faster KPM for your character.

Potion of Haste
Every time a Monster does something, the game is slowed down. Potion of Haste lets you attack more between each Monster's action. Deciding between Critical Strike, Power and Haste for a Potion will depend on your character, might, weapon, class, Raid and available Potions.

Note: Potion of Haste is dramatically improved during Onslaught Raids. However, ability cool downs may lower your KPM, especially for Justicars since Seismic Slash has a 6 combat second cool down immune to Haste. Radiant Light has the fastest Group Attack speed while Cleave has the longest Group Attack cool down affected by Haste making it difficult to set up a Group Attack Rotation. Heroic Will does not help in Onslaught because it has a 10 combat second cool down immune to Haste.

War Mage and Elixir of Speed (Thanks Mich)
Elixir of Speed increases your Haste by 15%. A War Mage can purchase an Elixir of Speed, then swap out Haste Gems and swap in Magic Gems until they reach their original Haste. This works only for characters with Yellow Gems in Gem Slot D (White Slots). A War Mage wielding a Staff has zero Melee Attacks so every increase in Magic Rating increases their damage per button press. Elixir of Might and Potion of Power both multiply, so the more Magic Gems you have the more results you get from each.

Note: High Level characters already have Potion of Power Recipe. During Black Market (Saturday and Wednesday) you can sometimes buy Grizzly Teeth. Vale of the Ice Dragon Raid will drop Polar Melt. So Potion of Power is often the most accessible of the Attack Potions. Bonus Potions of Power if you saved the ones from TVal.

Research Note: (you can skip this) Guild Favor of Magic, Guild Favor of Strength, Elixir of Might and Potion of Power are calculated from your base Rating, they do not multiply each other.

Note: Minor Runes do 135-165 Base Damage + ( Magic Bonus Damage * Weapon Speed ). Ex: Agatha with a Staff does 135-165 + (1009 * 1.3 ). So Runes are dramatically more powerful with more Magic Gems.

Research Note: (you can skip this) Major runes do 225-275 Base Damage. Frost Runes do additional damage for War Mages with Ice Mastery however this advantage in Raids is small since Fire Attacks do much more damage per Button Press.

Elixir of Speed plus Brutality, Critical Eye and Fire Mastery
Elixir of Speed increases your Haste by 15%. A character with Brutality (Justicar), Critical Eye (Shadow Walker) and Fire Mastery (War Mage) have huge advantages in Crit Power. These characters can purchase an Elixir of Speed, then swap out Haste Gems and swap in Crit Gems (Yellow) until they reach their original Haste. With such huge Crit Power from these abilities, each +1% in Crit increases your Damage Per Attack which increases your Kills Per Minute.

Riposte rank p3+ Dodge 20% Potion
If you already have Riposte rank p3+ Maneuver rank p3+ high Dodge %, then adding a Dodge 20% Potion can increase your Riposte, which will increase your KPM similar to a high Haste. Having at least rank 1 in Poison Cloud, Acid Spray, and Smokebomb helps against Mobs when Riposte changes your rotation.

Mobs, Smokebomb rank 3 and Light Shield
Since we are concerned with KPM and not casting time, some Shadow Walkers will fight Mobs with the Smokebomb rank 3 rotation:
--Setup
Critical Eye rank p3
Corrosive Blades rank p1- 3
Neurotoxin rank p0- 3
--Attacks
Caltrops rank 3
Poison Cloud rank 3
Smokebomb rank 3
Poison Cloud rank 3

These characters, may want to slow down their Haste (you can replace Haste Gems with Crit Gems). If you are slow enough that Caltrop+ Poison Cloud takes 1.00 seconds (Smokebomb’s initial cool down), Smokebomb rank 3 has a 1 combat second knockback during which Caltrops rank 3 (base weapon damage 40% Physical DOT) and Poison Cloud rank 3 (base weapon damage 40% Nature DOT) can do some serious damage. Critical Eye rank p3 increased Caltrops Crit chance and Crit Power. Corrosive Blades rank p1- 3 can trigger from Caltrops and Smokebomb and improve Poison Clouds damage but also will trigger Neurotoxin rank p0- 3. Character can also use Crit 20% Potion. If you have Riposte rank p1- 3 you may also want Acid Spray rank 1- 3 for Combat Encounters where Riposte triggers and Smokebomb is still in initial cool down.

If the Smokebomb rank 3 rotation works for your character in Speed Raids, you may consider a Light Shield. Often the rotation is not enough to kill all 3 Mobs before Smokebomb, the Light Shield helps Block Monster Debuffs (especially in Speed Onslaught Raids) without reducing the KPM of this rotation. Often a good combination for the Smokebomb Mob rotation is Light Shield+ Dodge 20% Potion+ Crit 20% Potion.

Luck Enchant
If you have any Luck Enchants, it will check for Bonus Loot then roll for Bonus Loot after each Loot Drop. For Maximum KPM swap out any items with Luck. If the Raid is taking too long, you can always reequip the Luck items once the Gold Finish or Silver Finish is missed.

Note: Bronze Finish in v1.5 Raids pay 75% of v1.4 Raids. All Knight Valor and lower items cost 75% of old prices. Thus Bronze Finish pays the same gear and gems in 1.5 as all Raids paid in v1.4 but the Finish time is longer. Gold and Silver Finish grant more gear and gems than v1.4 Raids. Except for a few under valued Raids, number of Waves kills and Wounds to Raid Boss (WW) has remained the same in v1.5. Thus v1.5 Raids are significantly easier than v1.4 Raids.

Device Lag
Use your most current device to reduce Device Lag. If you have an iPhone 5 and an iPad 1, the iPhone 5 has much better memory, processing power, and software. The iPhone 5 will increase your KPM over the iPad 1.

Communication Lag
Use your fastest network to reduce Communication Lag. If you have a 3G phone and a 4G/LTE phone, in general the 4G/LTE phone will increase your KPM over the 3G phone.

Note: Sometimes WiFi will be faster, sometimes slower. It depends on many variables from Internet Speed, WiFi Hardware/ Software, and local WiFi Traffic. Even if you test your WiFi speed, if a bunch of local WiFi start using your channel in the middle of your Raid, you could see a dramatic drop in KPM.

Phase Lag
If you have 60 people in a Raid, you will get more Phase Lag than 30 people. Each time you kill a Wave or Wound a Boss (WW), the server must check how many WW remain in the current Phase. With 60 people, it will slow down the subroutine. However, the more actual people you have in the Raid and the less multiple characters per person you have in the Raid, the less Phase Lag matters to your total Raid Time. Ex: Even with the increased Phase Lag per person, 60 characters and 60 people will generally be faster than 60 characters and 20 people.

Note: See Little_Mike's warning about Multiple Device Raiding. https://www.venan.com/boh_forum/viewtopic.php?p=6168#p6168

Chat Lag
The more people in Global Chat, the longer it takes to update your Global Chat. The more messages in Guild Chat, the longer it takes to update your Guild Chat. By setting your Chat Channel to System Event, you will get maximum KPM. However, the difference is tiny. So My advice is set your Chat Channel to Guild Chat so you are not distracted by the flashing yellow Guild Chat.

Server Lag
The more people accessing a subroutine (Ex: Alchemist's Lockbox) at one time, the slower the server. If you find a lot of people run The Vile Gate Raid from 01:00- 03:00 ST, you might want to run The Vile Gate Raid at a different time for maximum KPM.

Maintenance Lag
Older Operating Systems and hardware need to run periodic maintenance, often when the least people are online such as Sunday at 04:00 EST. Maintenance Lag has the most impact on KPM. Since BoH runs on Amazon's Virtual Servers, it should not suffer from Maintenance Lag.
