Some people do not like the Holiday Goblin of Doom. If you do not like getting squire valor from alchemist lockbox, you will not like HGoD. He is gambling using BoH Energy (or Gold Shields to buy energy).
If you have all Tier 3 Gems, you will probably not improve you character though HGoD.
But he is load of fun if you *like* Silver and Alchemist Lockbox.
His loot is aimed at the same people who use Alchemist Lockbox, with the exception of his Hat. Which is not really good for combat, it is just fun to wear.
Venan System Message will include his current location, but he is a special Elite with a low spawn chance.
WE: HGoD duration is 15 minutes.
If you look up your character's Feats, you have a new class "Seasonal". Currently it is "Save the Holidays" (Defeat the Holiday Goblin of Doom 30 times).
Holiday Goblin of Doom replaces a random Mob/ Group Combat Encounter(ce) in an Encounter Zone or Dungeon Zone. This is similar to other Elites replacing a Mob/ Group Combat Encounter(ce). Due to his low spawn percentage, He occurs as low a zero (0) times per 40 energy (40e) or as high as 8 per 40e (12 per 40e is rumored for a very lucky character).
Tip: If you don't have enough energy / Gold Shields to kill him 30 times & win the hat, spend 2 - 10 e looking for him anyways. If you find him, he drops *awesome* LOOT (and trinkets, this is gambling).
Tip: If you do not want to waste Gold Shields, set a clock to Server Time. 15 minutes after WE:HGoD starts, it will end. This is handy because it is easy to miss the Escape message in the tiny preview window at the bottom of Combat.
He is exactly the Level of the character fighting him.
He does no damage to the character, but has a unique Impending Doom Timer. Every successful action he completes ("Humbug"), stacks a Doooooom Counter (teasing, a Skull Counter). Rumor has it when he reaches 3 or 4, he Steals Christmas for 150,000 damage.
He is Very Highly Resistant/ Immune to Debuffs effects (Stun, reduce nature resist, Damage Over Time). The Debuffs appear to stick, but are replaced by a Skull Icon when they attempt to work. Knock Back is rumored to work, (Seismic Slash, Smoke Bomb, etc.) moving back his unique Impending Doom Timer.
Since Runes only do damage, use whichever Major/ Minor Rune you have the most in inventory, or use the least often or any of them, really.
Hit him as hard as you can per button press. Just like a Raid, Real World Speed (or Kills Per Minute) matters. Currently, Shadow Walker BarbSpice's first action is an Ice Rune (just for damage, he shrugs off the Slow Debuff). Then Barb alternates between Toxic Blade rank 3 and Piercing Strike rank 3, both of which he can Dodge/ Spell Dodge. The cool downs on Toxic Blade and Piercing Strike allow the sequence, but Runes take too long to cool down for a second Rune attack.
If you surprise him *before* he casts "Bah" on himself, you can stun him (Elixir of Speed is a big help). If my Shadow Walker stuns him with Corrosive Blades 3 + Ensnare 1, I then caste Caltrops 3, Poison Cloud 3 and Minor Spirit Rune. 12.5% change of Poison Stack 3 & 100% chance of Poison Cloud nature Damage Over Time. If I get Poison Stack 3, he is easy with alternating Toxic Blade 3 & Piercing Strike 3.
Consider using Potions of Crit.
v1.5 Elixir of Speed adds Haste -25%, it does not increase your Haste Rating, but your actual Haste %. While using an Elixir of Speed, BarbSpice has a Haste -34.41% due to Rating and a Haste -60.41% due to modifiers (or 250% of her base Damage Per Second).
Mob Tactics
Shadow Walker Assassinate rank 3, helps you eliminate mobs faster since HGoD is a 15 minute event and you must fight the mobs for a chance to respawn him.
Mon Dec 24- All Holiday Goblin of Doom Spawn Zones have a 21 hour cool down.

Tier 13 Hat fits all classes, including War Mage, appears to be weaker than Cloth Armor of same Tier or stronger than Mail Armor of lower Tier. Resale value is 1 Silver Coin.
winning Tier 13 hat is tough for low Might characters due to 15 minute window, unfamiliar with map, and locked areas. However all victors get awesome LOOT. Both a Level 26 & a Level 29 have won a Tier 5 Health Gem.

Player report, energy potion (12 e) about 40% of time, helps offset Gold Shields spent.
Note: Venan's Dave said "If you get the jump on him sometimes you can debuff him before he Bahs, but that is your only chance."

Research Note: if you have 29 of 30 Kills *OR* WE:HGoD has expired while you are fighting Goblin, you might consider spending 5 Gold Shields to Revive. This will give you 2- 3.0 seconds each time you Revive & He uses his Attack Loop. Otherwise, use Temple Healing or Health Potion to Heal, return to location and then use the 5 Gold Shields for more Combat encounters.
