The Inquisitors of Nithus were once among the most powerful of mages in Glenfort. Masters of the natural world, they use deadly poisons and spiritual powers to destroy their foes.

Inquisitors are heavy shield holding cloth armor nature and spirit casters who use deadly poisons, spirit buff and debuffing abilities and some neat tricks with the massive shield that they hold.

Below is their current ability tree excluding the values while we continue to play test them against the other classes. I will update this thread when the final values go in before the update. Please be aware that abilities may be subjected to change after further play tests for all classes.


Tier 1:
  • Spirit Strike - A spirit attack that deals 70%|85%|100% weapon damage to an enemy with a chance to do additional spirit attacks.
  • Virulent Slash - A Nature attack dealing 100%|120%|140% weapon damage to an enemy and has a 50%|75%|100% chance to apply the Poison Cloud effect, which does an additional 75%|100%|150% weapon damage over 3.0 seconds.
  • Acid Spray - A Nature attack that drenches your foes in a searing acid, dealing 60%|80%|100% weapon damage to an enemy and applies Poisoned effect, which reduces resistance to Nature damage by 15%. Stacks 3 times.
  • Inner Focus - Increases your Magic rating by 10%|15%|20%.
  • Stunning Blow - A quick spirit attack that deals 30%|50%|70% weapon damage to an enemy and stuns for 2.0 seconds. Breaks when enemy is damaged. Cannot be avoided. Cannot be used within the first 1.0 seconds of combat while in PvP.
Tier 2:
  • Radiant Light - A quick spirit attack that deals 40%|60%|80% Spirit damage to all enemies and purges 1|2|3 beneficial effects.
  • Seismic Shield - A wide spirit attack that deals 60%|80%|100% weapon damage to all enemies and delaying enemy actions by 0.55 seconds. Cannot be used within the first 1.0 seconds of combat. Must have a shield equipped.
  • Shield Bash - Grants a 20%|40%|60% chance to deal a bonus 100% weapon damage after blocking an attack with a shield.
  • Poison Cloud - Envelop your enemies in a poisonous cloud which deals 80%|100%|120% weapon damage to all enemies and applies Poison Cloud effect, which does an additional 100%|150%|200% weapon damage over time.
  • Spirit Bomb - Attach a spirit bomb to your enemies and after 2.0 seconds, it explodes dealing 100%|125%|150% weapon damage and knockback.

Tier 3:
  • Arcane Poison - A fast nature attack that deals 80%|100%|120% weapon damage to an enemy and applies Arcane Poison effect, dealing an additional 100% Spirit damage over 3.0 seconds. Stacks up to 3 times. Fast tick rate.
  • Poisoned Spirit - Grants +10%|15%|20% chance to deal a critical hit with nature attacks and +10%|20%|30% critical hit power with spirit attacks.
  • Heavenly Wave - A heavy spirit attack that deals 100%|120%|140% weapon damage to all enemies and reduces all negative effect timers on yourself by 0.5s|0.75s|1.0 seconds.
  • Shield Focus - Increases magic resist by 10%|15%|20% and block by 4%|8%|12% while wielding a shield.
  • Stagger - After blocking an attack with a shield, enemy is Staggered and does 20%|40%|60% less damage for 2.0 seconds.
Tier 4:
  • Time Void - Fracture the very fabric of time and space, interrupting all enemy attacks.
  • Spirit Link - Grants a 20%|35%|50% chance for any successful Spirit attack to apply a stack of Wrath to the target, reducing resistance to Spirit damage by 15%. Stacks up to 3 times.
  • Lethal Poison - Increases damage of Nature abilities by 10%|15%|20%.
  • Turmoil - Grants +30%|40%|50% nature damage to targets affected by Poisoned.
  • Smite - A heavy spirit attack that deals 150%|175%|200% weapon damage to an enemy. Cannot be dodged or blocked.

Two observations:
1. There is no attack that automatically applies wrath like with Justicars.
2. There are 3 poison DoTs plus a spirit DoT.

Or is Spirit Strike not adding a spirit DoT but rather potential "bouncing" to other enemies kind of like a chained lightning?

Edit: there are 2 SW poisons plus a spirit poison plus Spirit Strike's DoT/not DoT.

Cloth armor is meaningless except for fashion purposes in this game because it provides as much defense as full metal armor does.

My concern is that this class will require too many button presses for PvE (the reason I can't stand SWs). And there has never been a good reason to carry a shield in PvE because the damage penalty was too great.

Let's just say I'm concerned this class may not be much fun in PvE especially at higher levels but am withholding judgement until I actually play it.

Now I could see this being a very interesting class for PvP but I'll only be doing that to farm.

There are 5 AoE attacks plus Spirit Strike.

Only if you delete toons without saying goodbye. ;0)

CheM has said no change in guild sizes.

Agree - was a suggestion made in the Community thread that there isn't any real drawback to the cloth of mages versus the leather of SWs and mail of Justicars. Mages in most games are 'glass cannons' - massive damage output but can't take a lot of damage like a tanky class can. In this game, all the armours are pretty much the same, which means Defence + Armour means pretty much the same on any toon.
